Some historians have been repeating for centuries that there was a dark age in Kerala for centuries. However, some of the new findings show that this is a flaw in research. Researchers claim that some of the archaeological remains found at Chellarkovil in Idukki in the recent past are evidence of a culture that dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization.

The fresh water recovered from Mailadumpara in Chellarkovil is believed to be as old as the Indus Valley Civilization. The Nedumkandam Archaeological and Heritage Conservation Committee, led by researcher Rajiv Puliyur, found that the artefacts were of historical relevance.Some historians have been repeating for centuries that there was a dark age in Kerala for centuries.
